A major steel company wanted a space that incorporated the look of steel. Yet, they also wanted it to exude warmth. Over a year of planning went into this design, including weekly project meetings.
As you can see, the space is modern without being cold. And the glass provides a feeling of intimacy without sacrificing private workspaces. There is a cohesive look throughout the office, thanks to the furniture line and consistent finishes. However, the configurations vary based on department needs.
This project included Knoll Reff, AutoStrada and Dividends Horizons workstations, as well as Knoll Life seating. American Interiors also was responsible for all break-out areas.
In the end, the client couldn’t be happier. Which, as you know, makes us happy.
This tool company is the world leader in metalworking technologies, providing solutions for millworking, holemaking and threading applications. And when they relocated from a building they’d occupied since the 1930s, they came to AI for a fresh, yet timeless feel for their 51,000 square feet of space.
For this particular project, we took advantage of Knoll’s wide product offering and versatility. We used Reff systems for both open-plan and private offices. We included Calibre storage systems and featured Life seating and JR side chairs. We even used Chadwick conference chairs, which adjust to the weight of the body, providing personalized and effortless ergonomic support.
In 2009, one of the nation’s largest owners, developers and managers of retail centers expanded its headquarters just outside of Cleveland. And AI was chosen to help create their environment – from workstations and executive conference room to the amphitheater.
The goal was to create a high-end “millwork look.” Our plan of attack? We worked closely with Nevers Engineers, the company’s project team, their audiovisual company and interior designer to ensure success. For instance, the table aligns perfectly with the soffit and lighting pattern. Also, our solution was less expensive than real millwork and the transition was seamless.
The Nevers table is mahogany with an ebony inlay and maple edge. The Knoll Life chairs have leather seats and back toppers. We even worked with Nevers Engineers to include a custom, matching wet bar.
The company needed this space to be aesthetically pleasing and technologically compliant. Not only for its employees, but for outside companies renting out the space. So we partnered with their audiovisual company and KI Engineers to make sure the space was as functional as it was attractive. Mission accomplished.
The KI tables, which have power and data modules, laminate tops, wood edges and wood modesty panels, are flanked by Knoll Life chairs. Krug podiums include custom logo plates on the fronts.
The workstations and private offices are all Knoll Reff. This was the third building we created for them using Knoll Reff workstations. So we were able to use product from the company’s first building, which is 7-8 years old, and incorporate it with the new Knoll product.
